Thank you for your consideration.

This year will be the first Congress to be held as both an in-person and virtual event, and it features another packed programme. Returning to our spiritual home at the Royal College of Physicians, London, European Healthcare Design 2022 features two days of insightful, provocative and entertaining talks, workshops and panel discussions, with study tours to UK healthcare facilities on the third day.

Days one and two will open with keynote plenary sessions, before splitting into four streams. The final session of day two will be devoted to a ceremony to present the EHD2022 Awards, supported by lead sponsor IHP.

Sessions will be streamed virtually for delegates unable to attend in person via a dedicated event platform, while a new mobile event app will offer enhanced networking opportunities and provide key information about everything going on during the Congress.undefined - undefined

The Congress will also host a poster and video gallery of innovative research and design projects, an exhibition of design and technology solutions, a Welcome Reception, and a Garden Party. The day after the Congress, four study tours will be held, giving delegates the opportunity to tour some of the UK’s newest landmark health facilities.

After two years during when Covid restrictions meant we were only able to deliver the Congress in a virtual format, the excitement among the global healthcare design community to meet up again in the flesh is palpable. Our valued and loyal partners and sponsors have once again provided us with wonderful support, and with substantial investment in healthcare infrastructure planned by many countries in coming years, demand for tickets is expected to be stronger than ever.

Art and theatre

This year, we’ll be injecting some real art and theatre into proceedings, too. Over the two days of the Congress, Art in Site will be hosting an Art Room, where it will lead a series of workshops, mini-discussions, and an interactive installation – focusing on the role of arts engagement activities in healthcare.

And our keynote plenary at the end of day one (13 June) will feature the first-ever stage reading of the short play ‘Fast forward: The Future of Health and Wellbeing’, by the Caring Collective, a collaboration between 34 built environment experts and creatives. The play was highly commended by the Wolfson Economics Prize last year as part of its competition seeking new ideas for planning and designing the hospital of the future. Presenting a positive vision of the future, the play weaves together experiences, expertise, and creativity based on interviews, workshops and research. It will depict healthy ecosystems, from the home to the high street, and humanistic hospitals liberated by technology – all working seamlessly together.
