Sylvia Wyatt

Sylvia is currently advisor to AgeUK IW and a governor of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

As director of strategic development at West Surrey, she developed a plan for sustainable change in a health system with financial issues. As programme lead for the Future Health Care Network at the NHS Confederation, she led a multidisciplinary team supporting health systems investing for the future. More recently, she has worked for the Young Foundation and Nesta, on identifying and spreading effective social innovations, and for the Scottish Government, on shifting the emphasis in health and care from crisis management to preventive early intervention.

For most of her career, Sylvia has focused on developing practical, innovative solutions to ‘wicked’ problems, working collaboratively with a wide range of partners to bridge policy and practice, and support systemic change in complex systems. Her particular interests and expertise lie in healthy ageing, personalisation of care, preventive care, building social capital, and the adoption and spread of effective health and social innovations. She brings experiential learning, and national and international perspectives from across the UK and from the USA, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, India, Australia and Europe.
