Femke Feenstra

Femke Feenstra is an interior designer, architect and partner in architectural firm Gortemaker Algra Feenstra. The firm is building a bridge between innovation and tradition, between knowledge accumulated over many years, and young, fresh ideas. Additionally, the firm is specialised in doing research and development.

Feenstra received her education at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and at the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and Urban Design. She thinks it’s important for designers to look outside of their own fields of expertise. How can designers contribute to the future of health care and the living environment. What makes a house a home? To be a part of society is of essential importance.

Presently, Feenstra is working on various researches and projects with respect to residencies and health care. The researches are the Reactivating Hospital and Carebnb and the projects that she’s working on are Residential care centre Allévo in Zierikzee, Marijke Hiem in Heerenveen, Hospital Tilburg and the expansion of the Deventer Hospital.
