Bas Molenaar

Emeritus professor Bas Molenaar is an architect specialising in healthcare design. Since lecturing at the AvB in Rotterdam for 10 years, he has been teaching Healthcare Architecture at Technical University Eindhoven for seven years. With his practice, EGM architects, he designed the OLVG in Amsterdam, the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital in Utrecht, and the internationally awarded Tony Moleapaza Children’s Hospital in Arequipa, Peru.

His most recent design is the new Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, which is still under construction and will be ready in 2017. He received the Erasmus penny in 2015 for his consistent work on this project.

He is a member of the UIA Public Health Group, one of the working bodies of the International Union of Architects (UIA), which was founded in 1955 and represents members and guests from all continents, and has a growing participation from more than 60 countries.

Prof Molenaar is also a member of the editorial board of the American journal, ‘Healing Environment Research and Development’.
