Neil Halpern

Neil A Halpern MD, MCCM, FACP, FCCP is chief of critical care medicine, and medical director of respiratory therapy, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY. He is a professor of medicine and anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medical College, a master of critical care medicine of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and a fellow of the American Colleges of Physicians and Chest Physicians.

Dr Halpern is a member of the editorial board of Critical Care Medicine and CHEST, and is a prolific author and speaker specialising in innovations in ICU design, advanced ICU informatics, use and cost of critical care in America, integration of advance-practice providers in critical care, and point-of-care testing.

His 20-bed adult medical-surgical ICU was awarded the ICU design citation award for 2009. He is also a consultant for several ICU informatics and point-of-care testing companies, and is president of Critical Care Designs, a New York-based ICU design consultation group.
